Ashely Virginia Rugge
Ashley Virginia Rugge is an artist and mystic based on San Juan Island. She learned painting from her mother at the ripe young age of 19 whilst they were living in a tiny cow town in Germany. Since then she has allowed the journey of art to reveal the sacred mysteries to her. She is deeply called to create images and symbols of healing for the earth and all the earth’s creatures. She has recently been integrating her painting practice into other modalities such as poetry, film, performance, and sound art. Blending her plant and landscaping knowledge, Ashley is also an earth artist. She creates landscaped art installations as offerings to the earth. Ashley owns and operates Gallery Mystes Rising, an artist run working gallery in Friday Harbor. She lives with her husband and three kitties in a cabin in the woods on her island home.
