A kiss from the Winter Queen….

This was our car windshield this morning. I rushed to take this pic before my husband had to scrape everything away! What a gift for Solstice morning!

There’s a ton of Magick happening this weekend. Here are some ways to harness that Magick:

Solstice is technically this afternoon, but you can celebrate well into tonight or tomorrow. Tomorrow is the Cold Moon, the December Full Moon.

  • Stay up all night and watch the dawn, welcoming back the Sun.
  • Leave quartz crystals on your windowsill, charging them with powers of the Solstice. They can be used to “shine light” into areas of darkness, such as bringing truth or clarity to a situation.
  • If the weather is cold enough to freeze water tonight, write down what in your life you’d like to “put on ice,” such as a habit, toxic relationship, or otherwise. Stick the paper in a can or plastic cup and fill with water (avoid glass as it may crack) and leave outside over night. In the morning, let the ice thaw just enough to slide the ice out. Smash the ice on the sidewalk or driveway, sending the toxic energy away!
  • Make notes of dreams over the next few days, even if only fragments. Winter Solstice is a potent time for prophetic dreams.
  • Once it’s dark outside, turn off all the lights in the house and sing the carol below. Light a single candle at the end of the song and speak aloud the things you would like to bring into your life in the coming year.

Solstice Carole by the Wyrd Sisters (lyrics below, tune in the video at the bottom of the page).

A fire is burning
The long night draws near
All who need comfort
Are welcome by here
We’ll dance ‘neath the stars
And toast the past year
For the spirit of solstice
Is still living here

We’ll count all our blessings
While the Mother lays down
With snow as her blanket
Covering the ground
Thanks to the Mother
For the life that she brings
She’ll waken to warm us
Again in the spring

The poor and the hungry
The sick and the lost
These are our children
No matter the cost
Come by the fire
The harvest to share
For the spirit of solstice
Is still living here

The fire is burning
The long night draws near
All who need comfort
Are welcome by here
We’ll dance ‘neath the stars
And toast the past year
For the spirit of solstice
Is still living here

For the spirit of solstice
Is still living here
