How to work with Hecate for beginners? What do beginner Witches need to work with Hekate?

Yet another thing on TikTok that has all of the Witches buzzing…

“Hekate is not for baby Witches” (baby=beginner Witches).

“You need to be an EXPERIENCED Witch to embrace Hekate.”

“Don’t call on Hekate if you ‘aren’t ready’.”

I have a few questions:

If not Hekate, which Gods ARE for “baby Witches”?

How experienced do you have to be to embrace Hekate…and who decides that?

What does it mean to “be ready” for Hekate?

I won’t mince words. Hekate is a heavy-hitter. But what Gods aren’t “heavy-hitters?” Frankly, there is no “beginner” course for Deities. It’s not possible to ever be “fully ready” for bringing a Deity into your life. And from my lived experience, it doesn’t matter the level of “experience” the Witch has: Hekate will likely make you feel like a beginner at Witchcraft…and life…and that’s how you know the Magick is working.

Why is that???

When we open our lives to Deity, our lives change.

When many people open their lives to Hekate, many find changes to jobs, partnerships, homes, even regions where they live. Hekate guards crossroads. You may feel called to her long before you come across a crossroads in your own life, and she’ll be there to help you navigate it.

Sometimes, those shake-ups feel like earthquakes. Why wouldn’t they?

Why would you want to invite any Deity into your life if you don’t want your life to change? If you’re simply looking for someone or something to affirm your life and choices—cool. But Deity worship won’t offer that. When you open yourself to Deity, you’re inviting the presence of a being thousands of years older than yourself, fed by the experiences of millions of people who lived before you, and alongside you.

Sometimes, the Deity sees something we don’t. And via their wisdom, experience, and sight they move things around. They shake-up our lives.

No matter your level of life or Witchcraft experience, those shake-ups can be hard.

Yes. Hekate is a tough on“inexperienced Witches.”

But she’s tough on seasoned Witches as well. In fact, I’ve seen her shake up seasoned Witches even harder than newer Witches.

But in the end, isn’t that what we’re looking for? Are we calling on Deities to keep us at the status quo…or are we looking for real change?

Those changes have sometimes left me cowering in a soul-blown puddle on the floor. I don’t think any level of experience should be the deciding factor in embracing these life-changing shake-ups.

In the end, the choice to embrace Hekate is not about our experience or lack thereof. It’s about our willingness to embrace the changes she brings.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
