One of the most common questions people have for Tarot is “When will it happen?” This could be timing around a job, a move, or the most common question… “When will I meet ‘the one’?”
There is no specific formula for timing in Tarot. Over time, a reader devises their own system for timing. But there are a few universal clues…

- Week 3: “Cold Readings” and reading ethics. Exploring best practies for reading fog someone who doesn’t ask a question, plus exploring the pros and cons of different types of questions–what “should” you answer…and what should you not?
Some experience with Tarot will be necessary. You do not need to be a professional reader nor have taken my introductory classes, but we will be going beyond Tarot basics. <3

Timing in the Tarot:
Timing has a lot to do with the choices and actions of the querrent. For example, a new job won’t come unless they’re applying for a new job. And they’re unlikely to meet someone if they’re staying at home every night. Very often, the Tarot will tell a querrent that “xyz” won’t happen until they complete “abc.”
But if the querrent is working through “abc,” certain clues in the cards can tell them when “xyz” might take place.
The numbers offer a clue:
- Ace through 10 suggest their requisite numbers.
- Pages=11, Knight=12, Queen=13; King=14
The unit of time can be guessed based on the circumstance. For example, the querrent is curious about when they might hear back from a publisher about a manuscript they submitted and the two cards they pulled were the 8 of Pentacles Reversed and the 9 of Swords upright, suggesting they will hear an answer “between 8 and 9.”
What would the unit be? Pentacles are notoriously slow, while swords are notoriously fast. Because there’s a pentacle, it’s unlikely to happen in days. But because there’s a sword, it’s unlikely to take years. It will either happen in 8-9 weeks or 8-9 months.
At this point, it may be helpful to consider when the querrent submitted the manuscript. If they just submitted it a few days prior, they’re likely to need to wait 8-9 months. But if they submitted it a few weeks or months prior, they will probably get an answer in 8-9 weeks.
Major Arcana cards indicate more timelines than dates
Judgement is close to the end of the Major Arcana, but it’s not the end. This person is likely to have a child later than many of their peers, perhaps even just before they think “it’s too late.”
