The Devil? The Hierophant? 2 of Cups? The High Priestess? 5 Wands? 4 of Pentacles? The Lovers? And an ex’s intentions?
Today’s Tutorial unpacks a fabulous question I got on TikTok: Is the ex still keeping tabs on the querrent? And what about the details of the tab-keeping?
I have thoughts. I’ve shared mine below.
And, of course, I want to hear yours!

Let’s unpack it:

The querrent got The Devil: Treachery, deceit, sinister motives. It appears that the ex is indeed keeping tabs on the querrent and it’s likely rooted in jealousy and manipulation. They haven’t changed and if they come back, it will be more of the same…if not worse!
As for the details: The Hierophant, 2 of Cups, The High Priestess, 5 of Wands, 4 of Pentacles, The Lovers. One of the reasons this querrent is likely alarmed and confused is because there are too many cards. For clarifying cards, I recommend pulling no more than three (usually, you can clarify with only one). But if you do happen to pull several, here are some options:
- One card, one word. Looking at each card, note the first word that comes to mind. For me in this case: The Hierophant – Power; 2 of Cups – Sweetness; The High Priestess – Power; 5 of Wands – Confusion; 4 of Pentacles – Control; The Lovers – Passion. If we look at all of these together, the querrent’s ex may be using manipulation (a combination of sweetness, power, and confusion), to stay in the querrent’s life.
- Look at the patterns. What are the cards doing? The Hierophant – Sitting and facing forward. 2 of Cups – Sharing or connecting; The High Priestess – Also sitting and facing forward; 5 of Wands – Fighting; 4 of Pentacles – Possessing; The Lovers – Sharing or connecting. The querrent’s ex may be sitting still (or not appearing to do anything), but is still managing to connect, possess, and fight with the querrent.
- Follow the journey. If each card suggests an action, let them tell a story. The Hierophant – A decision is made and decreed; 2 of Cups – A connection is made; The High Priestess – A spiritual decree; 5 of Wands – A fight breaks out; 4 of Pentacles – Someone holds tight; The Lovers – A pair falls in love. This whole story REEKS of what the influencers call “trauma-bonding.” The querrent’s ex is playing the long-game to get the querrent back through giant decrees of love, engaging them in fights, and refusing to let them go.
