These days, hearts are heavy and hurting.

AND, more than ever, people are called to Hekate: the goddess of crossroads, the underworld, and ghosts.

This is not a coincidence.

Tough times call for tough goddesses and you can’t find a tougher one than the goddess of the Witches. And, in tough times, people look for sources of healing.

But a goddess of ghosts being a source of healing?

It couldn’t be more natural. <3

Hekate is a Goddess who was, and is, historically known for places of purification, transitions, and connections with “scary” places (whether literal or metaphorical). Few things are scarier than healing after a loss or looking for a treatment to a current condition.

But it’s more than a general association.

Hekate’s lore specifically ties her to healing:

  • She carries a dagger, used to cull plants—both toxins that can kill, and also medicines that can heal.
  • Through her association with death, she is associated with life
  • Because she is associated with destruction, she is also associated with renewal
  • Her realms are “The depths of the sea and dark of the earth,” associated with great mysteries, including the mysteries of healing

Healing with Hekate can look like:

  • Revisiting and coming to terms with a long-ago injury
  • Severing ties with a painful situation
  • Putting faith in the unseen (the torchlight in the dark)

Most will find that walking a healing journey with a goddess does not provide an immediate fix. But it is often the start of a beautiful journey.
