The meaning of Pentacles in Tarot readings

Happy Thursday! This week’s Tarot Tutorial is a slight throw-back.

I originally shared the spread below this past autumn, but in honor of my newest book available for pre-order!!!! I just couldn’t help myself!

I had so much fun with this little beauty. I found myself exploring symbolism in Mesopotamia AND yippies levitating the Pentagon, and lots of delicious things in between.

Pre-Order “The Pentacle”

Long before it was a symbol of religious identity or even a stylish fashion choice, the pentacle and its many variations served as powerful talismans, linked to and used by numerous esoteric orders. It was a tool for summoning spirits, creating magick, and casting spells. By creating and using a Pentacle, a practitioner could establish a shorthand language with the spirit world and shape the physical world into one the practitioner wanted to see.

Enjoy this piece and spread lifted directly from the pages of my newest Book Baby!

A Divination Ritual With The Pentacle

This exercise can be done with any divination tool (Tarot cards, bones, rune stones, etc.). Because my divination tool of choice is the Tarot, I am using Tarot cards for this, but again, this can be done with any tool of your choice.

Take your tools and place one item from each (such as one Tarot card for each) in the following positions:

1.) The state of what you want in your life

2.) What needs to be removed in order to make that a reality

3.) What needs to be embraced in order to make that a reality

4.) Where to direct your energy in the immediate

5.) Where to direct your energy in the long-term

The Reading In Action:

I used this one to explore my own debt pay-off journey. As you’ll surely notice, plenty of pentacles appeared!

1.) The state of what you want in your life: Judgement. I’m encouraged by this. It looks like I’m a lot closer to the end of my journey than perhaps I thought! Sometimes, though, the last lap is the hardest.

2.) What needs to be removed in order to make that a reality: Ace of Pentacles. There may be some more ways I can cut some expenses down. To be fair, I have taken on a few extra business expenses that I may need to temper. Good to know!

3.) What needs to be embraced in order to make that a reality: Queen of Pentacles, Reversed. Keeping a trim budget! I guess I won’t be ordering the designer frames on my new glasses. *sigh.*

4.) Where to direct your energy in the immediate: The Chariot, Reversed. While I am eager to get this debt journey done, I may also need to pace myself. Expenses creeping up may mean I’m getting a little burned out.

5.) Where to direct your energy in the long-term: 2 of Pentacles, Reversed. I need to keep focused on my original goal and not give into any tendencies of potentially changing my focus as I near the end. Easy to do when one is tired!

Overall, I’m encouraged by this reading. So many Reversed cards can indicate a specific chapter is close to ending. I’ve just to keep focused, pace myself, and not burn out (which could lead to over-spending!).
