This week, someone asked me: “Is the 7 of Swords bad all of the time?”
Sometimes known as “the thieves card,” the 7 of Swords is one that routinely gets a bad reputation. But that’s not all there is to it.
If you wonder if the 7 of Swords is an automatic bad omen, read on.
The short answer: No.
The longer answer: No card is bad all of the time, and the 7 of Swords is no exception.
The 7 of Swords is a bad omen if you wonder if someone is stealing or keeping a secret from you. It’s also not a great card for relationships, particularly if you wonder if you can trust a partner.
The longest answer: It depends on the context!

A GOOD Secret
Naturally, a thief wants to keep things secret. If you are hoping to keep something secret, this card says you’ll succeed. Maybe you’re planning a surprise party for a loved one. Maybe your beloved is sneaking an engagement ring into your birthday cake.
Holding A Big Load, But Knowing The Limits.
Notice how this character has a full load, and is looking over their shoulder at the swords they left behind….but NOT going to get them. Knowing one’s own limits is a powerful attribute. This character knows how much they can handle…but they are not going to take on any more. This will set them up for better success. If you get this card, particularly in reference to work or other personal limits, you’re doing great!
Getting away with something
Very often, success must be done in secret! If you have a fabulous master plan you are wanting to unfurl at the right time, this card says to hold on to your discreet approach. You’ll do better if you “get away” with more!
