Pentacles And Magick

Generally, Tarot practitioners associate Pentacles with symbols with earth or earth-themes, such as money, health, issues with the body, the house and home, business, and practical matters.

But historically, the Pentacle meant Magick.

As a ritual tool, the Pentacle is meant to take something from the Spiritual intention and bring it into physical form. With this context, a Pentacle card might represent an idea coming to fruition, a dream fulfilled, a spell made manifest.

Think for a moment….

When has a pentacle appeared to you? Maybe you’re walking along and see one etched on a building or sidewalk. Does it make you think of any one person, or any one thing?

Have you ever noticed a pentacle, or received one in a reading, just before a turn in fortune, for better or worse?

If you see a pentacle or get one in a reading, does it make you think of a specific person? Have you tried giving them a call or dropping them a line when that appears?

If you can’t think of any examples, consider starting to take a tally. When a pentacle appears in your reading, take note: literally. Write down where you saw it, when, and what feelings that went along with it. If anything out of the ordinary should happen in the next day or so, make note of that as well. If you do this over time, you are likely to notice a pattern.

Maybe you get pentacles in your readings when you’re about to come into some money…or about to lose some!

You might see a pentacle and then run into an old friend..future appearances of the pentacle may be a sign to reach out to that old friend.

In the end, divination is largely a system of personal associations. Collectively, certain signs and symbols gain strength by collective belief and so historical associations (such as wealth, health, or Magickal transformation) may certainly have some resonance in your own divinatory practice. But don’t let your own systems be bound by the systems of others. Leave yourself open to appearances of the Pentacle in ways that are both known through the centuries as well as unique only to you.
