Creating Closure at Summer’s End…

Summer’s end is particularly good for ending things.

There’s something about the end of summer/the beginning of fall that sparks renewal. It’s tied to the idea of starting a new school year (whether we’re in school or not) and means a new chapter has opened.

Particularly for those of us who struggle to finish things (hi! I’m guilty of having a dozen half-finished online courses in my virtual learning sphere), this is a great time of year to collect “finishing” energy, which can carry you through the rest of the year!

Below are some spell suggestions, but first…

Tomorrow is the last day to get the Merc Ret Tarot Reading deal!

20 Minute reading by Zoom for only $40. Sales ends tomorrow, so get on it!

If you’re looking to finish something, use this time to harness this closure energy.

Spell suggestions:

  • Tear the last page out of an old book (grab one at the thrift store if you can’t bear to tear up a book you have at home!) and write THE END on it in large letters. Leave it out in your windowsill for an afternoon to catch the rays of the end-of-summer sun. Keep it under your keyboard to help you finish the work project, the novel, or anything else!
  • Hang a cork from a piece of string in the window for a few days, and then with a sharpie write on it the thing you wish to stop e.g., smoking, biting your nails, creeping on your ex’s new fling’s IG page…
  • If you have a large enough compost bin, take a summer squash (such as a yellow squash or a zucchini) and whisper into it what you wish to find closure on e.g., Why you were let go from your job when you worked so hard; why the flame ghosted you; why the old friend un-friended you. Place the squash in the compost bin and as it decomposes, so does any obstacle between you and finding closure.
