Golly. It’s been an alarming few days…now what?
When frightening things happen in the world, we often feel tiny and powerless—like the little tiny boats on a moody North Sea (Remember when TikTok made the North Sea super famous???).
But even if we feel like we’re being tossed around at sea…we’re not really. We are, however, feeling tremors in a great, invisible web that connects us all.
“The web” is not New Age blah-blah.
First of all, I don’t do blah-blah. Second, everything we do impacts someone else, which then impacts how they impact others. Call it energy, call it just being alive…but it’s there.
Consciously interacting with this web is a powerful tool of grounding, particularly when we feel as though we’re helpless in the face of big, world events.
This week, I’m offering an exercise to help you ground your self by recognizing your place—and its importance—in the world.
It’s like MadLibs, only designed for Magickally-minded people like yourself. Unlike Mad Libs, I’m not going to make you try to remember a verb vs. adjective (you’re welcome).
Fill these blanks with whatever you’d like! If possible, do this work in a quiet space. If you like to write, write it down. If you don’t, think it or speak it. You can even draw, stitch, or play music for it!
However you do it, fill these blanks with the first thought that comes to mind.
I am __________
I comfort ________
_______ comforts me
I shelter ________
_______ shelters me.
I love _______
______ loves me
Once, I was _________
I have hurt ________
_____ has hurt me
In my space on the web, I feel most connected to __________
I feel most distant from _______
When ________ shakes the web, I feel it.
Today, and only for today, I make the choice to shake the web with ________.
You HAVE an impact on the world.
It may feel small, but no one person changes the world alone. Try this exercise whenever you feel shaken by the world. The answers will change, but the practice will do its job: ground you in your place.
Take care of you, friend!
xoxo,
