“I want to heal the world…but I don’t have time for the Magick I want to make!”
Sound familiar? Let’s be honest…
There has never been time to do anything…and there never will be!
Now, we may be trying to cook, clean, commute, or do an office job from home. In generations past, they were working factory or mine jobs from dawn until dusk and before that, scrambling to get food out of a field before the frost got to it!
Face it. No one has ever had time to do anything!
Today, nearly every Witch I know is not just honoring their ancestors, but also setting things up nicely for theor descendants. They are tuned into the big things that are happening right now and ready to get serious. But they are BUSY.
Being busy is not a problem, but it does require a special approach.
Busy Witches are most effective when they PLOT, PLAN, AND PRACTICE.
And…it’s SUPER EASY! I’ve got a plan, below.
But first…I’m coming to Atlanta!
Atlanta! Will I see you this week?
If you’re attending Mystic South, I’ve got two AWESOME workshops and a SPECIAL book reading that I am so very, very excited to share!
- “The Myth of Closure”: Friday, July 26, 5:30-6:30 p.m. EDT.When something uncomfortable happens, we want to know why. We may believe that knowing the”why” will ease our pain. But what if the”why” isn’t clear? What if there’s no”why” at all? This meditative and journaling exercise will help you look at your uncomfortable story as beautiful in its own right, whether or not closure is ever found.
- “Bird, Cattle, and Wolf: The Morrigan As Shape-Shifter”: Saturday, July 27, 1:00-2:30 p.m. EDT. The Morrigan is an ancient Irish goddess frequently associated with warfare and Magick. Yet in many myths, the Morrigan shape-shifts, influencing major events in Irish mythology. This class will begin with a brief introduction to the Morrigan, with a special focus on the myths in which the Morrigan changes shape. Through original exercises inspired by these mythologies, participants will have the opportunity to explore ways in which they can shift different courses of events in their personal lives.
- “The Grief Spiral”: Saturday, July 27, 3:00-3:30 p.m.There are no “stages of grief.” If grief has any shape, it’s a spiral, and a Magickal one. Grief changes us. Magick changes us. Because grief changes us, Grief is its own Magick.
If you’re not able to attend Mystic South, but you’re still in the Atlanta area, please join me at Phoenix and the Dragon!
“Sacred Tears: A Reading And Sharing”: Sunday, July 28, 2:00 p.m. EDT, Phoenix and the Dragon – 5531 Roswell Rd NE, Atlanta, GA. FREE EVENT. Grief is not only necessary, but sacred. When loss leaves you reeling, struggling emotionally and spiritually, Sacred Tears offers support from a Witch’s perspective. At this free event, author Courtney Weber (Hekate: Goddess of Witches; The Morrigan: Celtic Goddess of Magick and Might) will read a section from the book and facilitate a brief discussion on the sacred nature of grief and how Witches might utilize Magick as part of their grieving journey. Copies of Sacred Tears will be available for purchase. To sign-up and register for this event, please call (404) 255-8700.
Healing The World As An Overwhelmed Witch
You can do this. Just plot, plan, and then practice.
Get out that calendar—either the one on the wall or the one in your phone—and make notes. If you want to heal the world, here’s what you’re going to do this month:
Plot: As soon as you read this, take a moment and think—what kind of world do you want to live in in one year, five years, twenty years? The Moon may now be in Aquarius, but given that it was full in Capricorn just a day ago, the energies of Cappy’s long-term planning remain.
The Action: Speak it aloud e.g., “A clean environment and a just society.”
Plan: Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 4th. That’s the day of the New Moon, which will be in Leo. When the Age of Aquarius (eventually…) begins, its Shadow will be in Leo (the opposing sign of Aquarius). On a positive note, this can mean generosity and creativity. On a negative, it can mean arrogance and even totalitarianism.
The Action: What kind of world do YOU want to see?
1.) Because Leo can also indicate leadership, write a letter to the world describing what kind of leaders you want to see in it. Mark a time on Sunday, August 4th to do this work. If you know that day will be busy, write the letter in advance and sign it sometime on August 4th.
2.) Schedule another time to burn the letter and offer its contents to the wind. If you are in an area where you cannot burn or simply don’t want to, consider a “smushing ritual” (Thank you, Annywn Avalon for this idea!), where you soak the letter in a bowl of water and then offer the water to the land.
Practice: Mark your calendar for August 19, and circle the days that follow it. The full moon on this day shifts from Aquarius to Pisces, just as the sun is shifting from Leo to Virgo. Because it’s a time of change, it’s the perfect time to dream of the changes you want. With Pisces’s dreamy qualities, it’s a good time for dream magick.
The Action: On the August 19th Full Moon and the several days that follow it, while you are in bed, instead of scrolling yourself to sleep, envision the world you want to see and the changes that would need to happen in the world in order to make it a reality.
Make note of any dreams you have this week, as they may contain clues of actions you can take to help make it real.
We can do this, Witches!!!
