It’s almost May, friends! Bealtaine is nearly here!

While many modern Witches in general (and perhaps USA-based Witches in particular) associate this time with play and frivolity, there is a more serious side to this Irish-originated holiday. For more information, see this beautiful article from The Irish Pagan School.
With dangers running amok, Bealtaine was a time to draw boundaries and protect the property…and the soul.

Oh, hey! We are in interesting times!

With rumors of upcoming shortages, tariffs, a recession, and here in the USA the threat of you or someone you love being “disappeared,” there are a lot of reasons to be nervous..to name just a few.

But there are also plenty of reasons to feel strong.

No one can take your joy without your permission. No one can take your soul unless you offer it. No one can take you from you unless you let them. For me, this is one of the great lessons of Bealtaine.

As you approach Bealtaine (April 30 or May 1), consider doing spells that involve:

  • Protection of home
  • Protection of heart What do you feel vulnerable about?
  • Protection of those near you
  • Protection of those whom you don’t know Ask for guidance to help others

These spells can be as simple as offering a prayer on the evening of April 30, to doing a grand protection ritual in your own fashion before dawn on May 1.

Do what is feasible and reasonable for you. It’s better to do a simple spell than none at all. And remember, use the Witch you have.
