What if I’m too busy to practice Witchcraft? How do I get back into Witchcraft?

At The Cauldron Calling, my virtual platform, a common challenge we often discuss is making time for Magick. It’s the new year and people want to make THIS the year that they make their Magick and make it work for them.

However.

Witches are BUSY.

And yet, if we’re gonna Witch…we need to WITCH!

But how do we make Magick if we don’t have time for Magick???

The answer is both simple and incredibly complicated, but here it is:

Move your Magick UP on your priority list.

“Wait…what? Courtney. Do you even KNOW what’s on my list?”

No. But I can imagine. Please let me explain.

Most of us have the time. We’re just not using it for Magick.

Especially those of us socialized as women and/or who have children (human and/or critter), put everyone else’s needs before own. We “can’t” draw our daily Tarot card until everyone has been fed, walked/pottied, and of course, we’ve responded to the 10,000 work emails that piled up overnight.

By the time we’ve gotten “enough” done to do our Magick, either the day is over or we’re too tired to do it.

A Weird Secret of Magick:

If you put everything else first, you’ll won’t have time (or energy) to do your Magick.

When you put your Magick first, you WILL still have time and energy to do everything else.

Naturally, this does NOT mean to let your kids starve or bow out on a meeting with your boss in lieu of your Magickal practice. This year, don’t keep waiting until EVERYTHING is done (and spoiler alert…NEVER will EVERYTHING be done) before doing Magick. If it’s possible to let the laundry or the email response wait for ten minutes, pull the Tarot cards and journal briefly before doing those things.

This year, try moving your Magick up on the priority list…even just a peg or two!

And if you’re still struggling to figure out how to get your Magick into your day, you do NOT have to set up a major ritual every night at sundown. Try a few of these, instead!

  • With your coffee/tea/morning soda: Offer a prayer to your Deities, Guides, Ancestors, or whoever makes up your Spiritual allies.
  • On your commute, during exercise, or while you’re chugging away at work from home: Add a Magickal audio book or podcast to your listening rotation.
  • Make every outdoor opportunity a chance to connect with the earth: Even the walk from the car or bus to the grocery store counts. Just because it’s a parking lot doesn’t mean it’s not out in nature!
  • Use your evening shower as a time to release any negativity from the day. If you take your showers in the morning, use the time to release any negativity from the day before.
  • When you settle in bed, set an intention for the following day. Even if it’s just a word.

And if you’re looking for more, here are two FANTASTIC Magickal events to add to your calendar.

Registration is open for both and tickets are limited. Get on it!

What are the benefits of being at Spirit Northwest?

Deepened Spiritual Insight Beyond “hearing lectures,” attendance at a conference opens a heightened sense of awareness and engagement you gain through hands-on workshops, rituals, and discussions.

Expand Your Community Connections For many Pagan and witchy practitioners, isolation is a challenge. An in-person event fosters meaningful relationships, creating sacred spaces for connection and shared wisdom.

Renewed Creative Energy In-person conferences are like a creative recharge station for your soul! It’s not just about learning—it’s about getting out of your head and being inspired by others. Surrounded by kindred spirits, attendees often find themselves inspired to try practices they hadn’t considered or to refine their existing ones with newfound vigor.
