“How Do You Select What Deities To Work With And How Do You Start The Journey?”
This friend asked this question on my TikTok last week, and it’s a good question. With so many Deities calling so many of us, it’s a good time to revisit some best practices!
First Of All: It’s A Life-Long Journey.
There will never be a point when any of us will ever fully know a deity. Honestly, that’s the best thing about them. We will keep learning. They will keep surprising us.
But if you’re brand-new to Goddess Path, here are some of my best practices:
Learn about them, from native sources whenever possible.
Learning from the source will help you learn best. Sometimes, finding these sources is itself a journey, but it’s incredibly satisfying. Keep at it.
Read books about them, particularly those that cite academic sources. There are wonderful books out there written by heart-felt devotees of the deities. Some of them have fantastic information. Others may present their personal experiences as equal to historical record. While personal experience is valid and valuable, it’s extremely important to understand how these deities were originally worshipped and revered. This will help you understand the difference between someone’s personal experience and a deity’s objective legacy. By all means, let yourself be inspired by others’ experience, but out of respect to the deity and their people, know the difference.
Pay attention to dreams and synchronicities. What things are you dreaming about? Are you having unusual encounters with animals or plant life? If so, is there a specific deity known for them? This may give you a clue as to who is calling you, or how the deity may be showing up in your life.
Perform a ritual. Ask the Deity if they’d like to begin a relationship. This can be through a prayer, a ritual, or an act of service. If they don’t want the relationship, you’ll find out. Otherwise, proceed as though they said yes.
Go on about your business as though they were walking beside you. Ask them questions. Seek their wisdom. Give them thanks. Offer them a coffee or tea.
Notice how your world changes with them by your side, and keep being curious. The journey will always be mysterious. You may always have a little bit of wonder: Is this real or am I imagining it?
“But What Do They WANT From Me?”
This is another common question, and one that can consume people new to the Goddess Path. In my experiences, that’s rarely obvious until retrospect. Instead of ruminating on a confusing question, these questions below might be more productive to explore:
- What about them resonates with me?
- What about them might I like to emulate?
- How are we alike? How are we different?

This full virtual weekend open to only 14 students will help burgeoning readers break through some of their most challenging obstacles in Tarot, and support seasoned readers in sharpening their skills further.
The Advanced Tarot Intensive will explore:
* Identifying themes and answering the “Unasked” question
* Deepening understanding of Reversals and positioning
* Designing spreads to support specific questions
* Supporting challenging querents
* Exploring ethics in reading
When and Where:
Saturday, November 14th and Sunday, November 15th, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. While the sessions will be recorded, attending live is strongly encouraged as participants will be utilizing hands-on practice for themselves and other participants. Intensive will be held by Zoom.
Fee:
-$320 for full weekend. $160 due upon acceptance to secure place. Final $160 due by November 4.
OR
-$288 upon acceptance (a 10% savings)
Optional add-on:
$60 – 45 minute private mentoring session via Zoom. Must be scheduled no later than January 31, 2027.
