These days, people don’t only get Tarot readings when they stumble into a Witchy storefront (although I strongly encourage you to try…at least once in your life!). It’s just as easy to whip open an app and get your daily pull or even get a full Tarot reading.

But many Tarot readers, especially new Tarot readers, wonder: “Do those readings count?” They also ask, “Can Spirit speak to us through the Internet?”

My answer: “Sure!”

But there are a few things to know…

Spirit Doesn’t Hate The Internet

The internet is a liminal space:. It doesn’t exist in any single place. It can bring two people together in time, but not in space. It can bring people into a space (like a recorded conversation) at any time. In many cultures throughout human history, liminal spaces were considered sacred to spiritual beings. At this point in the human journey, if the Gods and other Spirits are indeed real, they are VERY familiar with the interent.

The Message Will Get To You However It Needs To

If Spirit catches you peeking at your phone a lot, it will deliver your message to you through your phone. Maybe that’s through an app. Maybe it’s through someone on IG who does daily pulls (like me!). You may find that cards that popped up for you online will be the same cards you pull from your deck in hand…and that’s when ALL the chills start!

Online Readings Can Teach Us Things

Online readings contain information from readers you may never meet in real life, or never would have found if it weren’t for the ‘net. Every new thing we learn about the cards expands the wisdom they can provide for us.

So, YES! Your online readings count.

But…here is one thing to keep in mind:

Avoid cross-checking your readings online.

Let’s say you got a reading and the cards left you uneasy. Maybe you wanted a second opinion. Fair enough…but avoid cross-checking your readings online.

Whatever you’re looking to find online, you will. If you want the cards to confirm your suspicions, you will (whether those suspicions are that something is wrong or that everything will work out okay). But if you’re nervous about the cards the reader pulled, don’t go cross-checking them with an internet search. The internet search will be missing the context, inspiration, and intution provided by your reader.

If you need a second opinion, go see another human reader—not a search engine!

But should I let AI do my Tarot reading?

We will discuss THAT next week! Stay tuned!

Thanks, y’all! 🥰

The Gathering of the Witches starts this weekend, and there’s still time to join us.

Three days, October 23 to 25, live online. Eleven teachers, every session live and interactive, with six months of replay access.

I’m teaching Bird, Cattle, and Wolf: The Mórrígan As Shape-Shifter. The Mórrígan is an ancient Irish goddess frequently associated with warfare and magick.

You’ll leave with shape-shifting practices drawn from the Mórrígan’s myths.

You’ll also learn from Mat Auryn (Psychic Witch), Judika Illes (Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells), and HeatherAsh Amara (the Warrior Goddess series), and more.
