Reversals! The all-too-often maligned aspect of the Tarot.

A card came out upside-down. Is that good? Bad? Indifferent? WHAT DOES IT MEAN???

Truly, in all the years I’ve read Tarot, I’ve found that Reversed cards offer some of the most brilliant insight into a Tarot journey. Today’s Tarot Tutorial will explore how a Reversed card can indicate a secret about to be revealed.

But first…

Reversals can mean a secret is about to be revealed.

A Reversed card indicating a secret will usually appear in the spread in the position of:

  • Future events
  • “What am I unaware of?”
  • “What’s underneath the actions of someone else?”

In the context of the reading, the meaning of the card will offer a sense of what the secret might be.

Examples for the question: “How are things going at my job?”

The Sun Reversed

Upright, the card represents joy. Reversed indicating a secret, this card can indicate a surprise that will likely make you happy when it’s finally revealed. In the context of this question, it could be a promotion or raise…but the powers that be are not ready to share that with you, yet!

The Knight of Swords Reversed

Upright, the Knight of Swords is a card of attack: whether that means you are attacking a project or an opponent…or someone is attacking you! Reversed, it can mean a surprise enemy or set-back. In the context of a work question, it may mean someone is quietly sabotaging you or that a hidden enemy on the job is about to be revealed.

7 of Cups Reversed

The 7 of Cups, when upright, is either a card of overwhelming options…or simply overwhelm! When Reversed, it can indicate plenty of options…but few (if any…) are good ones. In this reading, it can mean changes are happening behind the scenes, but few will be good for the querrent.

Page of Wands Reversed

Upright, the Page of Wands indicates creativity, curiosity, and projects. When Reversed, it can indicate a secret project. For this reading, it may indicate a secret, and pretty cool, project that’s about to be handed to the querrent!
