Tarot is big, vast, and sometimes just plain old confusing!
Sometimes, it’s so confusing you may want to chuck your deck in the back of your Magick drawer and leave it there for a year. Yet, how do you get better at it if you don’t practice?
To get better at Tarot, you’ve got to read Tarot.
Still, if Tarot is just too confusing, it leads to unsatisfying experiences that would make anyone less likely to keep reading.
So what is a Witch to do???
Don’t worry! I’ve got you!
This week, I’m offering three wonderful Tarot spreads for beginners—easy, but also full of insight. The first one is a classic standard, and the following two are original and created by me for you! Also, the first one is on me. If you’d like to see the other ones, join The Cauldron Calling: The Platform for the Magickally Minded.
This three card spread is an old classic. It reflects how a situation is progressing through one card for the past, one for the present, and one for the future. Note: the future card represents what is likely to happen if nothing changes course. Remember, we all have control of our own destiny!
Example: The querrent asks: “How is my relationship going?”
Past: The Hanged Man, Rev – Past troubles were resolved…but not easily!
Present: Page of Wands – Creative collaboration. The people involved are working on things together, but not necessarily working on their relationship.
Future: 6 of Pentacles – Inequality. Unfortunately, because the core issues with the relationship weren’t addressed, it’s likely that the relationship isn’t likely to be equally satisfying to all parties.
Follow-up questions might include:
- What can the querrent do to repair things?
- Which party will feel the inequality in the future?
- What external factors might be distracting the people in the relationship from repairing things?
