Lots of Tarot readers draw cards for the New Year: “What’s coming my way?” “How can I make the best of my situation this year?” “What do I need to know?”
To that I say, YES. Ask those questions! Those are fab.
But let’s go further…
Instead of only asking what the Universe is going to fling your way in the coming year, use the Tarot to TELL the Universe what we want to see.
To do that, you’ll need to use a deliberate pull.
Deliberate pulls are the opposite of a random draw. In most Tarot readings, we shuffle and draw a card at random to see what the Tarot says about any given situation. But a deliberate pull tells the Tarot where we want to go or what we want to see happen. The rest of the reading then helps us determine how to get there.
How to do a deliberate pull:
- Turn deck face-up.
- Flip through the cards until you find one that, to you, best illustrates your goal.
- Make this card the center of your reading. The other cards will represent how to get there.
My goal for 2025 is to get out of consumer debt. Therefore, I chose the 10 of Pentacles because, to me, I see a calm, happy family surrounded by rich resources.
That’s what *I* want to see in my world, so the 10 of Pentacles will be the anchor of my reading and all of the other cards (which I will draw at random), will tell me how to get there.
