When should you not get a Tarot reading? Can anxiety affect Tarot readings? Are Tarot predictions accurate?

I got this comment on my TikTok feed last month:

I get it. I still get a tickle of nerves when I get a Tarot reading, especially if I’m attached to the outcome!

But if you are someone who wants a Tarot reading but fears what it will say, read on…

Three Things To Remember If You’re Scared Of Your Tarot Reading:

1.) The Tarot is not in charge of you. YOU are.

The Tarot shows you patterns of how things will unfold if you change nothing in your behavior. If you don’t like what the Tarot has to say about the way things are going, ask this follow-up question:

What can I do to change my outcome to a better one?”

2.) Present You doesn’t get to decide how Future You will feel about their circumstances.

When I was in my early 20s, I was bound and determined to get an MFA from an exclusive school. When I did readings about it, I cried. The cards all said it wouldn’t happen. But guess what? As the rejections rolled in, I found that I didn’t actually want the MFA. I wanted to explore my creativity in the underground arts scene of New York City. While I waited for the final school’s answer, I hoped they wouldn’t accept me. Younger Me couldn’t have imagined how a decade in New York would launch a writing career without the MFA…and how then-Future Me would have an amazing time doing it, too!

You just never know how Future You will feel about their circumstances, so don’t try to guess it for them. If you’re worried about that, try this follow-up question:

“If this all comes to pass, how will I feel about it at that time?”

3.) Don’t assume the Tarot will only relay your biggest fears

Let’s say that you share that fear that the TikTok commenter had: Never getting married. Always being unhappy. Remember, there are a lot of sides to your life experience. But if you are coming to the table with fear, consider asking the Tarot these questions:

“ What, in my future, will give me the most joy?”
” On my deathbed, what will I feel most proud of?”
” Of the future things I worry about, what will never actually come to pass?”

Using Tarot to address fears

Tarot isn’t just about telling the future. It’s a brilliant tool to help you plan your dream future. Some of that planning comes with addressing fears. This week’s original spread can help you identify tools to help you navigate fear.
