You’re not too tired to Witch. You’re just too tired to Witch like THAT.

Let me guess. You really, really want to do a full moon ritual with all the candles and all the intention and all the incantations. And maybe you did! Or maybe this week is already wiping you out and all you have energy for is to wave at the full moon through your window (is it even the full moon? Probably not…have we all lost track???)
Magick may be my profession, but not I won’t lie…this is one of the LEAST Magickal-feeling points in my life.
I have the world’s most adorable, but also busiest, little toddler. I’m going through a major shift in my personal life. My career is blessing me with phenomenal things…but I’m one Witch doing the work of twenty! And don’t EVEN get me started on world events. I can barely even lift my phone to look at the news!
Do a ritual? Ha! My altar isn’t even set up at the moment!
But one thing we often discuss at The Cauldron Calling is that Witchcraft and Magick ought not to:
- Be a goal in itself
- Task in itself
- Work for its own sake
Instead, Witchcraft and Magick ought to:
- Uplift
- Affirm
- Support
Magick and Witchcraft are meant to support us through this wild experience of Being Human.
At the moment, my Magick has not been in rituals, altars, spells, or even books. For now, my Magick is:
- Noticing: E.g., Which flowers are popping up through the cold soil, and reflecting on their personal symbolic meaning to me, personally…and the same thing with the birds I hear singing!
- Listening: To others’ observations, particularly those of my daughter, who has just recently discovered the moon: “Moon out!” “Moon hiding!” “Moon sleeping!”
- Remembering: Magick is not a chore. It is a practice. And practices shift.
Along the lines of shifting…everything in nature shifts. And if Witchcraft is meant to mirror the cycles of nature, why wouldn’t our Witchcraft practices have shifts as well!
I’ll be back at my altar, soon. For now, focusing on the Magick of daffodils and the lunar observations of my two-year old which frankly, is the best Magick I’ve ever known.
